Day 1 & 2 - Depart USA

Board your flight bound for Beijing, China. En route cross the International Dateline. During this tour, see the incredible highlights of China with opportunities to experience the local culture.

 

Day 3 - Arrive Beijing

Arrive this morning in Beijing, home of 2008 Summer Olympics! Beijing is a fascinating capital with a treasure of beautifully preserved palaces, tombs and relics. Today enjoy a visit to the Temple of Heaven where the emperors prayed for the good harvest. Here you will see hundreds of Chinese practicing their morning exercises. Later see Olympic Games sights and the famous Olympics Bird’s Nest & Water Bubbles buildings. Tonight enjoy a Welcome Dinner. (D)

 

Day 4 - Beijing Sightseeing

Meet your local representative and tour the Summer Palace, the ancient royal palace built by the Dragon lady in the last dynasty. Later visit the Forbidden City, the inner sanctum where for centuries Chinese emperors ruled. After an included lunch, visit Tiananmen Square, the symbolic heart of China and gathering place for the masses. (B,L)

 

Day 5 - Great Wall

Today enjoy a full day visit to one of the greatest man-made wonders of the world, the Great Wall of China. You’ll likely never forget your first sight of the Great Wall: one of mankind’s most remarkable feats, this impenetrable barrier stretches 4,000 miles. Visit the Sacred Way of the Ming Tomb where you will see the many ancient stone carved animals. Tonight enjoy dinner with your fellow travelers. (B,L,D)


Day 6 - Beijing - Xian

This morning experience old Beijing with a Hutong Tour where you travel by Rickshaw through Beijing’s ancient alleyways. Later transfer to the airport for your flight to Xian. Upon arrival in Xian, meet a local representative. Enjoy an included dinner and check into your hotel. (B,D)

Day 7 - Xian - Terracotta Warriors

Begin your day with a visit to the Ancient City Wall. Next visit one of the world’s most incredible sights, the Terracotta Warriors. In 1974, while digging a well in a peaceful valley, a farmer stumbled upon the third century B.C. burial grounds of Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi. An archeological dig later uncovered an army of more than 8,000 life sized Terracotta statues each with distinctive physical features. These soldiers have been guarding their emperor’s underground tomb for over 2,000 years! Tonight is at leisure to enjoy dinner on your own. (B,L)


Day 8 - Xian - Shanghai

Fly to Shanghai this morning. Today enjoy a Shanghai City Tour of this great city where East meets West. Shanghai is China’s largest city with 14 million people, and is a paradise for adventure and excitement. Ride along the Bund, the riverside boulevard that is Shanghai’s showpiece and view the 1930’s era high-rise architecture. Then visit the Garden of the Mandarin Yu & a Silk Weaving Workshop. This evening an Optional Acrobatic Show will be offered after dinner. (B,L)


Day 9 - Shanghai at leisure

Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Shanghai on your own or join a full day optional tour to Suzhou. Suzhou is the famous garden city of China. Visit the famous Humble Administration Garden and the Silk Embroidery Institute. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner with your fellow travelers.   (B,D)


Day 10 - Shanghai - USA

Today transfer to the Auckland Airport for your flight home. (B)
