FAQ / Know Before You Go

How do I sign up for a tour?

A $300 per person deposit for domestic tour programs OR a $500 per person deposit for international tour programs is all that is needed to reserve your tour. Simply call toll free 877-953-8687 to speak with one of our reservations agents who will answer any questions you have and assist you with booking and confirming your reservation. Please inform our reservation department that you are with NYSUT Members Benefits.

Once your deposit has been processed we will send you a reservation confirmation statement confirming the tour and departure date you are booked on, the deposit amount paid, how much your final payment is and when your final payment is due.

When is final payment for the tour due?

Final payment is due 75 days prior to your departure date for tours. We will send you a final payment statement approximately 2 weeks before your final payment is due.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express for tour deposits and final payments.

How do I get the NYSUT Member Benefits discounted rate?

The Land only rates provided for tours listed on our NYSUT Members Benefit / PWD Link show the discounted NYSUT Members Benefits rates. Simply make your $300 per person deposit (Domestic tours) OR $500 per person deposit (International tours) by check or credit card and you will receive $100 per person ($200 per couple) discount off normal pricing on domestic and international tour programs.

What is not included in the land only tour price?

The land price does not include roundtrip airfare, airline fees / fuel surcharges, airport /departure taxes, airport to hotel transfers, visas, customary end of trip gratuities for your tour directors, motor coach driver, local step-on guides, hotel housekeepers, cruise ship wait staff, and any incidental charges.

Is roundtrip airfare included in the tour price?

No, all tour programs are advertised as land only. Premier World Discovery is happy to accommodate your flight needs with a quote for roundtrip airfare from your preferred air gateway. Due to tour scheduling and limited availability you are strongly encouraged to take advantage of Premier's air packages. If air is booked through us it includes air taxes / fuel surcharges and roundtrip airport to hotel transfers at the arrival and departure cities on tour. All tours listed on the NYSUT Members Benefit / PWD link will show a sample Round Trip Air Package Add-On Rate from JFK.

Can I book my own roundtrip airfare for the tour?

Yes, you are welcome to book your own roundtrip airfare to meet up with our tours. Should you wish to book your own airfare, we provide you with an opportunity to purchase roundtrip airport to hotel transfers at time of booking.

We have every expectation that the departures will fill-up, and in fact many will sell out. With any tour, however, demand can be unpredictable. In the unlikely event that your departure date is cancelled due to low participation, please be aware that air cancellation penalties or change fees may apply and are the responsibility of the traveler. We recommend that you research and understand your airline's cancellation and schedule change policies prior to booking your domestic air. Also, feel free to contact our office around 90 days prior to departure, at which time we will have a better idea about the tour's viability.

Are airport and hotel transfers available?

Roundtrip airport to hotel transfers are INCLUDED for all passengers who purchase airfare through Premier World Discovery. These transfers are available on the first and last day of the tour and do not apply to pre and post night stays. If you book your own airfare, roundtrip airport to hotel transfers are available for $100 per person at time of booking. Day of arrival and day of departure time constraints apply.

How do I meet up with the tour group?

You will meet up with the tour director and fellow travelers at the first hotel on day one of the tour if doing your own airfare and not purchasing our airport to hotel transfers. For air inclusive programs OR if purchasing our roundtrip airport to hotel transfers then you will meet the tour director and fellow travelers at the arrival airport on day one. Detailed instructions will be in your final tour documents which you will receive approximately 14 days prior to departure.

What quality of hotels do you use?

When you travel with Premier, you will enjoy quality hotel or resort accommodations. Our hotels and resorts are among the best in each destination, and are selected for a combination of comfort, amenities, service, location and character of the area. Premier properties are intended to enhance your travel experience whether they are luxurious, historic or unique, or a combination of all three.

Who are your tour directors?

Premier's professional tour directors are with you throughout your entire tour program and are extremely important to the tour and travel experience. We feature some of the best tour directors in the industry. They are experienced, well-traveled & extensively trained professionals. From managing each day's schedule to offering suggestions for leisure time and confirming transportation, each tour director works with the travelers to ensure a wonderful and educational travel experience and the utmost in customer service.

What is the average age of your travelers?

Most of our travelers are 50 and older, however we welcome and host travelers of all ages on our tour programs. We discourage children under 10 years of age as the education level and activities are geared towards adults.

If I travel alone, do I pay a higher tour rate?

Yes, when traveling alone on a tour, the payment of a single supplement in addition to the per person double rate. This additional charge is for only one person using the room or cabin.

Can I travel on a different departure date than the one being advertised?

Yes, we offer multiple departure dates on our tour programs, and all are open to NYSUT Members. Please call to inquire about dates and availability. Toll free 877-953-8687.

Will my tour date ever change?

Premier reserves the right to cancel any tour prior to departure for any reason. In the unlikely event that this should happen, we will make every effort to accommodate you on another departure date. If an alternate cannot be found, you will be refunded in full. Air booked through Premier will be protected. We are not responsible for other air arrangements.

What is your cancellation policy?

For domestic and international tours, the cancellation policy is as follows: Cancellations not covered by the Cancellation waiver or if the Cancellation waiver is not purchased, are subject to the following per person fees:

  • Cancel more than 180 days prior to departure: Full Refund
  • Cancel 179-75 days prior to departure: Deposit or Waiver is Retained
  • Cancel 74-45 days prior to departure: 25% of total price
  • Cancel 44-15 days prior to departure: 50% of total price
  • Cancel 14 days or less prior to departure/no shows: No refunds

Do you offer an optional Cancellation Waiver & Post Departure Plan?

Yes, we offer a low cost Cancellation Waiver and Post Departure Plan that is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Rates for cancellation waivers can be found on our reservation forms.
Payment of the per person Cancellation Waiver (waiver fee) guarantees full refund on all payments (including deposit), except the waiver fee itself, made for tour rates in case of cancellation up to the time & date of departure due to the passenger’s personal illness (medical documentation required) or death of a member of the immediate family (official documentation required).

If the passenger must return early due to the passenger’s personal illness or death of a member of the immediate family, payment of the waiver fee guarantees a refund for the unused services. Payment of the waiver fee guarantees your return air transportation utilizing your original airlines tickets with no additional supplement. The waiver does not cover return transportation costs other than return air transportation utilizing original airline tickets. The waiver fee is fully refundable until 180 days prior to departure. The waiver fee does not cover any single supplement charges which arise from an individual’s traveling companion electing to cancel for any reason prior to departure. The waiver is non-transferable and valid for each applicant only. The waiver does not cover any services such as airline tickets not purchased through Premier World Discovery.

Part B - Post Departure Plan: Trip Delay ($100/Day-Max $500), Baggage & Personal Effects ($2,000), Baggage Delay ($100/Day-Max $500), Emergency Accident/Sickness Medical Expense ($30,000), Emergency Evacuation/Repatriation ($50,000), Accidental Death & Dismemberment ($25,000), Emergency Travel Assistance (24/7-Included). All Cancellations, Claims & Inquiries under Part A will be handled by Premier World Discovery. All Claims & Inquiries under Part B will be handled by the Plan B Administrator. When will I receive my final tour documents?

You will receive your final tour documents approximately 14 days prior to your tour or river cruise departure date.
